Virgin and Child is an unfinished religious painting created circa 1527–1528 by Parmigianino, showcasing his distinctive Mannerism (late renaissance) style. Crafted using oil on a panel, the work captures the tender relationship between the Virgin Mary and the infant Jesus with elegant elongation and refined grace, hallmark traits of Mannerism. Despite remaining incomplete, the painting exemplifies Parmigianino’s skillful manipulation of form and composition, offering a glimpse into the artist's innovative approach within the context of religious art. Now housed in the Courtauld Gallery in London, it remains a significant example of 16th-century religious art.
