The Mannerism (late renaissance) oil painting titled Madonna and Child, also known as Madonna with the Long Neck, is an Italian religious painting completed by Parmigianino around 1535-1540. This Panel depicts the Madonna embracing the Child, surrounded by angels, with the artist's characteristic elongation and elegant grace. Although initially commissioned for a funerary chapel in Parma, it remained unfinished after Parmigianino's death in 1540. Acquired by Ferdinando de' Medici in 1698, it has been on display at the Uffizi Gallery since 1948. The work's refined oil technique exemplifies its period's artistic style.
