"The Entombment" is a historic religious painting that ingeniously portrays the burial of Jesus. Rendered by Michelangelo Buonarroti, a luminary of the High Renaissance period, this unfinished masterpiece is believed to have been created around 1500. Interestingly, the painting, executed with oil on wood, was procured by the National Gallery in London from Robert Macpherson in 1868. Its technique diverges from Michelangelo's other attributed works, such as the Doni Tondo, which are more typically executed in the tempera medium. Despite its incomplete status, it remains a testament to Michelangelo's proficiency and artistic vision.
