"Madonna and Child with Putti" is a striking religious painting by the Italian Mannerist artist Rosso Fiorentino, created between 1512 and 1517. Originally painted on panel and later transferred to canvas, it depicts the Virgin Mary tenderly holding the Christ child, surrounded by playful cherubs or putti. The painting exemplifies the stylistic tendencies of Mannerism, with elongated figures and elegant, elongated forms. Acquired in 1810 with assistance from baron Dominique Vivant Denon, it now resides in the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
