Milky Way

Peter Doig's 1990 artwork Milky Way vividly depicts a landscape scene infused with a dreamlike quality characteristic of Magic realism. The painting features a tranquil, atmospheric view of the night sky, with the Milky Way galaxy stretching across the canvas, creating a sense of infinite depth. Doig's use of muted colors and layered textures enhances the mystical and contemplative mood, inviting viewers to reflect on the cosmos' vastness. As a quintessential example of his mastery of combining realistic detail with a surreal ambiance, Milky Way captures the awe-inspiring beauty of the universe through a contemplative lens.
