House on Fehmarn

"House on Fehmarn" by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner exemplifies his engagement with Expressionism, capturing emotional intensity and subjective perception. As a founding member of Die Brücke, Kirchner sought to evoke raw, vivid Landscapes that challenge traditional representations. This painting reflects his interest in portraying personal and inner experiences through bold colors and distorted forms. Created amidst his tumultuous life, including wartime trauma, it underscores the expressive power of art as a means of emotional expression and societal critique—hallmarks of his contribution to modern Expressionism.
