Madonna and Child is a renowned religious painting by Italian Early renaissance artist Filippo Lippi, created between 1450 and 1465. Unlike many of his works, it was painted independently rather than with his workshop, making it an influential model for later depictions, notably by Sandro Botticelli. The artwork is executed in tempera on wood, showcasing Lippi’s delicate technique. Housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy, it is often called “The Uffizi Madonna” and is celebrated for its serene portrayal of the Madonna holding the Child, embodying the grace and intimacy characteristic of Early renaissance religious art.
