Les Femmes d'Alger is a series of 15 Oil paintings and numerous drawings by Pablo Picasso, created in 1954–1955. Inspired by Eugène Delacroix's 1834 The Women of Algiers in their Apartment, the series pays tribute to artists Picasso admired and explores the sensuality and complexity of women. These works are distinguished by their vibrant, fragmented composition, characteristic of Surrealism-influenced style, and are executed on Canvas. While rooted in a Genre painting tradition, Picasso's series pushes boundaries through bold abstraction and vivid imagery.
