"The Transfiguration (detail)" is the final masterpiece by the Italian High renaissance artist Raphael, commissioned by Cardinal Giulio de Medici (later Pope Clement VII) as an Religious painting for Narbonne Cathedral. Crafted on a Panel using Oil technique, it exemplifies Raphael’s artistic maturation. Unusually, the composition combines the Transfiguration of Jesus with the subsequent miracle scene positioned below. Now housed in the Vatican's Pinacoteca, the work reflects the expressive depth typical of the High renaissance, marking the culmination of Raphael’s influential career.
