'The Kiss' is a renowned genre painting by the Austrian Symbolist painter Gustav Klimt, created between 1907 and 1908 during his "Golden Period". The scene features a couple entangled in an intimate embrace, their bodies cloaked in elaborate robes inspired by the Art Nouveau style and the earlier Arts and Crafts movement. Klimt employed a mixed media approach, using oil on canvas and adding gold leaf, silver, and platinum to create a resplendent effect. The painting debuted in 1908 under the title 'Liebespaar' in Vienna.
