"Portrait of a Lady" is the final portrait by Gustav Klimt, left unfinished at his death in 1918. The unidentified woman, depicted without commission in 1917, is framed by strong Asian influences and Chinese motifs, a testament to Klimt's late style of Symbolism. While the medium of the work is not specified, Klimt was known to use a combination of pen and ink, as well as watercolor, often on paper. These elements are clear in this expressive, unfinished piece.
