Portrait of Diego de Covarrubias
The Portrait of Diego de Covarrubias y Leiva, a work of the late renaissance artist El Greco, is an illustration of the Mannerist style evident around c.1600. Created using oil on canvas, this portrait reflects the elegance and sophistication of the era's artistry. The piece is preserved in the El Greco Museum in Toledo and it is listed as number 137 and 114 in Harold Wethey's and Tiziana Frati's catalogs respectively. Mannerism, characterized by complexity and tension, is strongly portrayed in El Greco's depiction of de Covarrubias.
