Annunciation
'Annunciation' is a religious painting by the famous artist El Greco created in 1609 before his death in 1614. This work is a variant of a similar theme as part of the Doña María de Aragón Altarpiece, and it might have been completed by his son, Jorge Manuel. It is a fragment of the complete work intended for the chapel of the Hospital de Tavera in Madrid, where it is now privately held. El Greco employed Mannerism (late Renaissance) stylistic elements in this piece, typically characterized by artificial and elongated figures. The Annunciation was painted on canvas using oil paints.
