Four Sundaes

"Four Sundaes" by Wayne Thiebaud exemplifies his mastery of the still life genre, capturing four vibrant ice cream sundaes with exaggerated colors and heavy pigment. Thiebaud's signature use of well-defined shadows, reminiscent of advertisements, enhances the visual appeal and lends a sense of depth. Known for his colorful depictions of commonplace objects, Thiebaud is associated with the Pop art movement, predating some of its most famous figures. This painting showcases his interest in mass culture imagery, blending everyday motifs with bold, expressive techniques typical of his work in the Fifties and Sixties.
