Coucher De Soleil A Menado. Celebes

"Coucher De Soleil A Menado. Celebes" captures a tranquil sunset scene in the Indonesian island of Celebes, now known as Sulawesi. The painting reflects a refined approach typical of genre painting, depicting everyday life with attention to atmospheric detail and cultural context. The artist's use of light and color evokes the warm glow of sunset, reminiscent of the delicate lines and compositions seen in Ukiyo-e prints, though it remains rooted in Western realism. The work offers a captivating glimpse into the local landscape and daily activity, blending local subject matter with a meticulous, almost poetic style.
