"Sunset at Montmajour" is a striking landscape oil painting by Vincent van Gogh, created on 4 July 1888 during his time in Arles, France. The artwork vividly captures a Impressionism-influenced portrayal of a garrigue terrain with the historic ruins of Montmajour Abbey in the background. Measuring 73.3 cm by 93.3 cm, the painting exemplifies van Gogh's dynamic brushwork and intense color palette. For years, it was misattributed as a forgery and held in a Norwegian private collection, but subsequent authentication led to its sale to a private owner. It was notably displayed at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam from September 2013 to January 2014.
