Star

Sam Francis's 1964 artwork titled Star exemplifies abstract painting with a focus on vibrant color fields and dynamic composition. Aligning with abstract expressionism, the piece employs bold, spontaneous brushwork and layered pigments to evoke emotion and movement. The subtle interplay of luminous whites with overlapping hues creates a sense of depth and energy, characteristic of Francis's exploration of color and form. Star captures the essence of abstract art by emphasizing pure visual experience over representational accuracy, highlighting Francis's mastery of luminous abstraction.
