The Column

Horia Bernea's The Column exemplifies his distinctive approach within the Expressionism movement, where emotive force and symbolic forms dominate. Executed with a nuanced technique that balances abstraction and figuration, the artwork emphasizes structure and verticality, suggested by its title. Bernea’s style often merges cultural and spiritual motifs, and The Column stands as a testament to his exploration of form as a conduit for deeper meaning. While the work aligns with the Landscape genre through its compositional dynamics, it transcends mere representation, inviting viewers to engage with its expressive, contemplative presence.
