"The Meagre Company" is a notable schutterstuk depicting Captain Reinier Reael and Lieutenant Cornelis Michielsz. Blaeuw’s militia group, and it is unique as the only militia portrait painted by Frans Hals outside Haarlem. The scene is rendered on a traditional canvas using vibrant oil paints characteristic of the Baroque style. Hals was dissatisfied with the project's completion, as he was unable to finish it on time; Pieter Codde was hired to complete the work. Today, the painting is part of the collection at the Amsterdam Museum, prominently displayed in the Rijksmuseum's Honor Gallery.
