"Jacob's Dream" by Jusepe de Ribera exemplifies the intense emotionality and dramatic chiaroscuro characteristic of Baroque art. The painting, likely an exceptional example of a religious painting, depicts the biblical dream of Jacob, illustrating Ribera’s mastery in creating heightened spiritual scenes. Executed with lush Oil paints on canvas, the work reveals Ribera’s skillful use of light and shadow to evoke emotion and depth. As a leading figure in Spanish Baroque painting, Ribera’s distinctive style cemented his status among Europe's finest masters of the 17th century.
