The Lamentation of Christ is a remarkable religious painting created between 1455 and 1460 by Flemish artist Dieric Bouts during the Northern renaissance. Crafted on a wood panel using oil paints, the work depicts the sorrowful scene of Christ's lamentation, capturing deep emotion and Gothic realism. Initially misattributed to Rogier van der Weyden, it was later correctly identified and now resides in the Louvre Museum as RF 1, having been bequeathed by Constant Mongé-Misbach in 1871. This painting exemplifies the Northern renaissance's detailed realism and spiritual intensity.
