The Lagoon with Boats, Gondolas, and Rafts

"The Lagoon with Boats, Gondolas, and Rafts" by Francesco Lazzaro Guardi exemplifies the Venetian School's mastery of Oil painting on canvas. Guardi, a nobleman and one of the last prominent Venetian painters, captures a lively marina scene filled with boats, gondolas, and rafts. While his style hints at the dramatic influence of Baroque, his works are characterized by a lighter, more atmospheric approach. This painting offers a vivid glimpse of Venetian life and the city's unique marina setting, emphasizing the delicate play of light and perspective typical of his late-period craftsmanship.
