Stonemason's Yard
"Stonemason's Yard" is an early oil canvas painting by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. This cityscape depicts a lively, informal scene in Venice during the mid to late 1720s, showcasing a temporary stonemason's yard in the Campo San Vidal. The work captures the construction of Andrea Tirali's facade of San Vidal, with the Grand Canal and Santa Maria della Carità visible in the background. As a prime example of Baroque artistry, it exemplifies Canaletto's masterful skill and is celebrated as one of his finest works, held in the collection of the National Gallery in London.
