The Artist's Family in a Garden

"The Artist's Family in a Garden," a portrait created around 1615 by Flemish Jacob Jordaens, depicts the artist with his parents and siblings in an intimate, natural setting. Executed in oil on canvas, this Baroque work exemplifies the genre's focus on familial warmth and detail. It is one of four notable works by Jordaens housed in the Hermitage Museum, showcasing his masterful use of light, color, and composition to celebrate family ties within the lively, dynamic style characteristic of the Baroque period.
