"Return of the Holy Family from Egypt" is an oil on wood Baroque religious painting by Jacob Jordaens, created circa 1618–1620. The artwork vividly depicts the Holy Family's return to Nazareth after their flight into Egypt, capturing the emotional and divine moment characteristic of Baroque artistry. In 1940, the painting was plundered by Nazi soldiers during World War II but was ultimately restituted in 2025 to the descendants of its original owner, Belgian resistance fighter Joseph Scheppers de Bergstein. The piece masterfully combines religious themes with dynamic composition and rich wood-based oil techniques.
