"Haymaking" is an oil painting on canvas by Russian artist Alexey Venetsianov, created in the early 1820s. As a prime example of genre painting, it captures a tranquil rural scene emphasizing realism in everyday life. The painting depicts a peasant mother dressed elegantly, leading two horses with a harrow while watching her child nearby, showcasing the intimate relationship between people and their work. Since 1893, it has been housed in Moscow's Tretyakov Gallery, regarded as one of Venetsianov's masterworks.
