Tintoretto's Self-portrait from around 1588 showcases his mastery in Oil painting on a canvas. Exhibiting characteristics of Mannerism (late renaissance), the portrait reveals a dramatic, expressive style with elongated features and dynamic composition typical of the period. Originally part of the Orleans Collection, it was later acquired for Marie Antoinette with the Château de Saint-Cloud in 1785. Today, the Louvre in Paris conserves this exquisite example of Tintoretto’s skill as a self-portrait.
