The Portrait of Alvise Cornaro is a compelling oil painting by Tintoretto, dating from around 1560–1565. It depicts the Venetian humanist Alvise "Luigi" Cornaro, known for his writings on moderation and health. Executed on canvas, the portrait exemplifies the elegant style of Mannerism (late renaissance), characterized by elongated forms and refined details. Once mis-attributed to Titian in inventories between 1698 and 1829, it was later correctly identified and acquired by Leopoldo de' Medici. Today, it resides in the Galleria Palatina in Florence, showcasing Tintoretto’s mastery in capturing both personality and artistic sophistication.
