"Sand on the Quayside, Port Marly" is an oil painting by Alfred Sisley created in 1875. As a landscape, it captures the Seine at Port-Marly with a focus on the natural surroundings and the textures of the canvas. Exhibited at the 1900 Exposition Universelle, it was part of the collection of Dr. Georges Viau before passing into the hands of Durand-Ruel, who unsuccessfully attempted to sell it. Later acquisitions included Galerie Bernheim-Jeune and Martin A. Ryerson, ultimately leading it to the Art Institute of Chicago. The painting exemplifies Impressionism with its vibrant brushwork and atmospheric effects, characteristic of Sisley's style.
