This oil on canvas measures an impressive 555 cm by 1309 cm, making it one of the largest canvases of the 16th century. Painted as a religious painting, it depicts a lavish banquet scene infused with Mannerism (late renaissance) style, characterized by vivid colors and exaggerated figures. Originally created for the refectory of the Basilica di Santi Giovanni e Paolo in Venice, Veronese’s work showcases intricate composition and vivid storytelling within a religious context.
