Skewbald Mare

"Skewbald Mare" is a compelling animal painting by Lucian Michael Freud, a renowned British painter and draughtsman celebrated as one of the leading 20th-century portraitists. Executed in oil on canvas, the artwork captures the raw, visceral essence of the mare with intense Expressionism-inspired brushwork. Freud's focus on figurative art emphasizes the physicality and emotional depth of his subject, blending realistic detail with expressive energy characteristic of his style, making the piece a powerful example of his mastery of oil painting on canvas.
