Double Portrait

"Double Portrait" by Lucian Michael Freud exemplifies his mastery as a leading British painter and draughtsman in figurative art. Rendered on canvas with rich oil paints, it captures the raw intimacy between two subjects through intense Expressionism. Freud’s work often blurs the boundaries with genre painting, blending portraiture with everyday life. The painting’s visceral brushwork and focus on psychological depth demonstrate his commitment to portraying human vulnerability and individuality.
