View of Delft is a remarkable oil painting by Johannes Vermeer, created around 1659–1661. It depicts the artist's hometown in a detailed cityscape on canvas. As Vermer’s only cityscape, it highlights the Dutch admiration for water landscapes and trade, a common theme in 17th-century Dutch Baroque art. The painting’s composition and use of light exemplify Vermeer’s masterful technique. Since 1822, it has been housed in the Dutch Royal Cabinet of Paintings at the Mauritshuis in The Hague, celebrated as one of his greatest works.
