A Young Woman Seated at the Virginals is a compelling Baroque genre painting by Johannes Vermeer, confirmed through technical examinations from 1993 onwards. Created around 1670, the painting depicts a young woman seated at a virginal, focusing on intimate domestic moments characteristic of Vermeer's meticulous style. It is executed on a canvas using oil paints, highlighting Vermeer's mastery of light and detail. Currently housed in the Leiden Collection in New York, it should not be confused with a similar work in the National Gallery, London.
