The scene captures a jubilant carnival celebration, coinciding with the Christian pre-Lenten period marked by Quinquagesima, Shrove Monday, and Mardi Gras. The vibrant figures and decorative motifs subtly reflect Art nouveau (modern) influences, blending traditional festivities with a touch of modern aesthetic. The artist masterfully portrays the exuberance and communal spirit of this season, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the colorful, spirited tradition of this festive gathering.
