"The Holy Family," also known as The Rest on the Flight into Egypt, is a rare religious painting by the French Rococo artist Antoine Watteau. Created between 1714 and 1721, this oil on canvas depicts the Virgin Mary, the Christ Child, and Saint Joseph amid a serene landscape, surrounded by playful putti. Unlike Watteau’s typical secular works, it reflects a modest, contemplative religious scene, making it a distinctive and likely the rarest surviving religious subject in his oeuvre.
