Rye

"Rye," completed in 1878 by Russian artist Ivan Shishkin, is an exceptional landscape oil painting that vividly captures a Realism-style portrayal of a rye field near Lekarevo in Tatarstan. Measuring 107 cm by 187 cm, the scene emphasizes the natural textures and colors of tall, swaying rye stalks under a serene sky. Shishkin’s masterful attention to detail and use of light exemplify his devotion to authentic depiction, making this artwork a significant example of 19th-century Russian Landscape painting. It is currently held at the Tretyakov Gallery.
