"The Daydream," originally titled "Monna Primavera," is an 1880 oil-on-canvas masterpiece by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, a founder of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Measuring 158.7 cm by 92.7 cm, it depicts Jane Morris seated on a sycamore bough, holding a honeysuckle stem—a Victorian symbol of love—possibly hinting at a secret affair. The work showcases elements of Romanticism, emphasizing emotional depth and beauty. Rossetti’s sketch and study process is evident in the detailed composition. The painting, now housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum, was bequeathed by Constantine Alexander Ionides in 1900.
