Titian's "Danae" is a masterful mythological painting created between 1544 and the 1560s, with at least six versions produced by his workshop. This canvas depicts the princess Danaë, a figure from Roman myth, who was secluded in a bronze tower to prevent the prophecy of her harming her father. Despite her isolation, she was seduced by Zeus, who descended from Mount Olympus in the form of a oil-like shower of gold. The composition reflects Mannerism (late renaissance) style, emphasizing elongated forms and heightened elegance characteristic of that period.
