The raising of Lazarus
The Raising of Lazarus is an early religious painting by Dutch artist Rembrandt, created around 1630–1632. This Baroque oil-on-panel work vividly depicts the biblical miracle from the Gospel of John, Chapter 11, where Jesus revives Lazarus from the dead. Rembrandt's masterful use of light and shadow emphasizes the emotional intensity and spiritual significance of the scene. As an example of his developing style, the painting showcases his ability to convey profound religious themes with dramatic realism. Today, it is housed in the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
