"St. Sebastian," circa 1614 by Peter Paul Rubens, is a remarkable example of religious painting from the early Baroque period. Depicting the Christian martyr Saint Sebastian, the artwork showcases Rubens's mastery of oil on a canvas. Characterized by sinuous lines and defined figures influenced by Michelangelo and Flemish Mannerism, it reflects the dynamic energy of the Baroque style. Acquired by the Borghese directly from Cardinal Neri Corsini in Brussels, it is currently housed in the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin.
