Mother

"Mother" by Kuzma Sergeyevich Petrov-Vodkin exemplifies his mastery in genre painting infused with Symbolism. Created with canvas and oil paints, the work depicts a nurturing maternal figure imbued with emotional depth and spiritual meaning. Petrov-Vodkin’s early iconographic influences, often characterized by creative effects based on the curve of the globe, contributed to his distinctive style. Despite controversy over his blasphemous imagery in his early years, he became a prominent figure in Soviet art, later serving as the first president of the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists.
