"Snow at Argenteuil" is an impressive Landscape oil-on-canvas painting by Impressionist artist Claude Monet, depicting his home commune during the winter of 1874–1875. As the largest of eighteen works Monet created of Argenteuil covered in snow, it shows a shift from the detailed brushwork of smaller pieces to broad areas of blue and grey tones. Monet’s strategic use of small strokes in greens, yellows, reds, and darker blues adds vibrancy and cohesion. Impasto at the road surface enhances the snowy texture, capturing the transient effects of winter with characteristic Impressionist immediacy and atmosphere.
