The Canvas titled Boulevard of Capucines by Claude Monet showcases two Impressionism Oil Cityscape paintings of the same Paris boulevard created between 1873–1874. The vertical version illustrates a snowy street scene looking down the boulevard towards the Place de l'Opéra, while the horizontal composition presents a lively, sunny winter day. The latter is housed at The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow and is believed to be the one exhibited at the first Impressionist exhibit in 1874. Monet’s loose brushstrokes evoke the fleeting effects of light and atmosphere characteristic of Impressionist art.
