"Bathsheba in the bath" is a rare Northern renaissance religious painting by Hans Memling, created around 1480 and now housed in Stuttgart's Staatsgalerie. This panel depicts an intimate, erotic nude figure, a rarity in 15th-century art where such representations usually appeared only in Last Judgement scenes. Memling, primarily known for religious works, also produced one other secular nude portrait in his Triptych. The piece's oil technique enhances its detailed realism, making it a distinctive example of secular and sensual themes within Northern renaissance art.
