The Crowning of the Virgin, also known as the Oddi Altarpiece, is a religious painting created by Raphael between 1502 and 1503 during the High Renaissance period. Originally commissioned for the Oddi family chapel in San Francesco al Prato, Perugia, this masterpiece was painted using oil on wood panel. Depicting the Virgin Mary’s coronation in heaven, the artwork showcases Raphael’s refined composition and delicate use of color. After being seized and transported to Paris in 1797, it was returned to Italy in 1815 and is now housed in the Vatican Pinacoteca, preserving its historical and artistic legacy.
