The "Angel" fragment from Raphael's Baronci Altarpiece exemplifies his mastery in High renaissance religious painting. Created as part of his first recorded commission for Andrea Baronci's chapel in Sant'Agostino, Città di Castello, it was originally painted on canvas using oil techniques. The artwork was severely damaged during the 1789 earthquake, and since 1849, fragments have been distributed across various collections. Despite its partial state, the angel's delicate features and divine expression highlight Raphael's skill in capturing spiritual harmony typical of the High renaissance style.
