Vincent van Gogh's Wheat Field with Cypresses (1889) is one of three similar Wheat Fields paintings created during his time at the Saint-Rémy-de-Provence asylum. Inspired by the view from his window overlooking the Alpilles mountains, Van Gogh captured the vibrant, swirling textures of the wheat fields and towering cypresses. Painted in his distinctive Post-impressionism style, the work exemplifies his expressive use of color and dynamic brushstrokes. The artist often made sketch and study works in paper to explore composition before applying paint. His technique displays a raw, emotional quality, reminiscent of ink-like lines, conveying movement and vitality within the scene.
