"Autumn, or The Grape Harvest" is one of Francisco Goya's transformative works, combining elements of Romanticism and Genre painting. Commissioned for Charles III and later Charles IV of Spain, this painting was one of the 63 large cartoons which were created as a preparatory design for tapestries hanging at the San Lorenzo de El Escorial and El Pardo palaces. Executed on Canvas, the artwork captures the energy of a rustic grape harvest scene in richly layered Oil paint, exhibiting Goya's command over his medium. The finished tapestries are now a part of the Prado Museum's collection, with the original cartoons recognized as stand-alone artworks.
