'Leda and the Swan' is a lost masterpiece from the High Renaissance, produced by Michelangelo in 1530. It represents a well-known Mythological painting based on the Greek narrative of Leda's seduction by Zeus, camouflaged as a swan. The original tempera on canvas has not survived, existing only through reproductions in varying formats, notably engraving. The remnants encapsulate the dramatic and intricate approach Michelangelo had for integrating mythology into visual art, rendered all the more valuable for its scarcity in its original form.
